International Conference, Festival, and Climate School on Climate Education Held in Thailand

Published Date: April 23, 2026

From 1 to 4 December 2025, over 120 schoolchildren, educators, and experts from 11 countries gathered in Khao Yai, Thailand, for the 4th International Teachers’ Conference, 3rd International Schoolchildren’s Festival, and 2nd International Climate School, organized under the UNDP’s Climate Box programme.

The four-day event brought together diverse stakeholders to exchange knowledge, showcase innovative approaches, and strengthen collaboration on climate education. The programme featured a combination of plenary sessions, expert discussions, hands-on workshops, and interactive learning formats designed for both educators and students.

The Teachers’ Conference focused on advancing climate education systems, with sessions dedicated to integrating climate change into national curricula, applying gender-responsive approaches, and utilizing practical tools from the Climate Box toolkit. Experts and practitioners shared experiences and discussed strategies for scaling up climate education across countries.

At the same time, the Schoolchildren’s Festival provided a platform for young participants to present their climate action projects, exchange ideas, and engage in creative and educational activities. Through workshops, competitions, and group discussions, students explored climate challenges and developed solutions, strengthening their role as active agents of change.

A central component of the programme was the Climate School, which offered an immersive learning experience through interactive sessions, team-based exercises, and a climate-themed quest. Participants also took part in field visits, including the EGAT Climate Change Learning Center, where they explored renewable energy solutions and carbon neutrality practices, as well as a nature-based learning experience in Khao Yai National Park.

An exhibition of school projects served as a key highlight, fostering peer learning and dialogue between students, teachers, and experts. Throughout the event, participants engaged in meaningful exchanges, building connections and sharing best practices across countries and regions.

The event concluded with an official closing ceremony, recognizing participants’ contributions and achievements. Beyond the formal programme, the conference, festival, and climate school once again demonstrated the value of international collaboration in advancing climate education and empowering both educators and youth to contribute to a more sustainable future.
